Suessical Jr - Fall Theatre Academy

AUDITIONS: August 25 -26

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Rehearsals start on Sept 2 (Mon, Tues, Thurs) 430-630pm

Best Christmas Pageant Ever

AUDITIONS: Sept 21-22

The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world–so when they crash Sunday school and demand parts in the Christmas pageant, the whole town panics. There’s not supposed to be biting or cigar-smoking in Bethlehem, and while these kids have never even heard the Christmas story, they definitely have rewrites! Soon, everyone is calling for reluctant director Grace Bradley to cancel the whole thing. It’s up to the Bradleys and the Reverend to help their community see the Christmas story and the Herdman kids through new eyes in this buoyant musical adaptation of the funny and touching holiday classic.

Pirate Frank - Winter Theatre Academy

AUDITIONS: Dec 29 - 30

The star of a popular pirate play — The Fearsome Pirate Frank — is the teenage heartthrob of every girl in Shakespearean England, even though he can’t remember his lines for the life of him!  However, when the actor playing Frank and his supporting cast, including prima donna Esmerelda, get kidnapped by real pirates during one of their productions, it’s good-bye stardom, hello servitude on a real pirate ship!  The narrators and a stream of hilarious sign-carriers keep the show moving as we see the pirate actors swabbing the decks under the orders of the real pirate Frank, who happens to be a woman.  But pirate actors are not the only ones hijacked in this comic romp...  so is the plot from a particular popular pirate flick!  In a chilling flashback sequence, the tale of how Captain Frank received the ’Blackmark” comes alive as we see her send her crooked captain to walk the plank.  Nightmare sailors, zombie pirates and hypnotizing mermaids fill this zany spoof with pop culture — even Spiderman makes an appearance!

Parent Night: Jan 5th

Rehearsals Mon - Fri 4:00 - 6:30 PM

Spamalot

AUDITIONS: Nov 2-3

It’s just a flesh wound!  Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, this musical retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of showgirls, not to mention flying cows, killer rabbits, and French people.  Bursting with unforgettable songs, absurd humor, and zany characters, this musical is a rollicking celebration of all things Monty Python.  Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical!

School of Rock

AUDITIONS: Jan 25-26

The tuner follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out? Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock – The Musical, with its sensational live kids’ rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music.  This musical is being done in partnership with the Flint Hills Academy of Music.

Grease

AUDITIONS: March 29 - 30

Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys’ and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie,” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions, place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.
