Stepping off the elevator into the McAninch Lobby at The Columbian
is breathtaking. Yet it is nothing compared to entering the Peddicord
Playhouse. Is it possible this glittering, elegant, sophisticated
theatre is located in Kansas? You bet it is!
The Peddicord
Playhouse is the crown jewel of The Columbian Theatre, Museum &
Art Center. A 288 seat, intimate theatre with proscenium stage,
the Peddicord Playhouse is at once dramatic and at the same time
very user friendly.
Comfortable,
wide seats beckon theatregoers to escape into the wonder of live
drama. As was typical in 1890 music halls, the Peddicord Playhouse
features a flat floor. It's terrific for wedding dances, receptions
and parties. But does that leave a few "bad" seats at
the rear of the house?
Not in the
slightest. Theatre audiences find the last six rows on risers, making
these seats some of the best in the house! With a modern sound system,
there is simply not a bad seat to be found.
