The Peddicord Playhouse and Swogger Gallery lend an elegant air to social functions of all kinds.

The Columbian is a fabulous site for weddings and wedding receptions. This architectural jewel on the prairie, after its $2.5 million renovation, provides a backdrop unlike any other. There is simply no comparison.

A typical plan has the bridal party arriving early afternoon. Florists and caterers have been busy throughout the day preparing food and decorating for the grand event. As the bride and her bridesmaids arrive, they are escorted to the Ladies Dressing Room. The fun is just beginning. By late afternoon all are ready for pictures and the entire party congregates in the Peddicord Playhouse, where the stage has been transformed into a dramatic accent for the wedding ceremony to come.

As guests begin arriving, the concert grand piano becomes the center of attention as its tones waft across the auditorium, set for as many as 300, with priceless works of art adorning the walls. Suddenly, it's the big moment. Piano and trumpet begin Purcell's "Trumpet Tune" and the bride appears on the arm of her father, looking as radiant as can be.

Following the ceremony bridal party and guests are welcomed into the Swogger Gallery for the reception, whether it be a sit down dinner or buffet tables with finger food. Toasts are made and wedding cake is consumed.

Meanwhile, The Columbian staff is busy setting the Peddicord Playhouse for an evening of wedding dancing and merriment. Round tables accommodating 8 to 10, wide open dance floor and a DJ or small combo on the stage. By the time the reception is complete, the Playhouse is ready to rumba!

The Peddicord Playhouse, complete with stage and theatre lighting and sound, can be configured in theatre style (300 seats) and rearranged in to "party" style (tables, chairs and dance floor). The Swogger Gallery can accommodate as many as 180 for dinner and 200 for receptions. The whole facility is perfect for those very large weddings requiring more space than either of the primary rooms can hold individually.
