2017 Season Schedule
Gypsy - June 9-11, 16-18 & 23-25
Friday & Saturday @ 7:30 p.m. / Sunday @ 2 p.m.
After June and Louise’s childhood stardom on the vaudeville circuit thanks to their pushy mother who lives vicariously through their success, the once talented and enthusiastic June decides to step back from show business, contrary to her mother’s wishes. As the popularity of the vaudeville era fades, Louise, the quiet and reserved sister, lands a surprising role in a racy burlesque show set in Wichita, Kansas. When the lead burlesque dancer is arrested, Louise drops her shyness, along with a shoulder strap and begins her transformation from shy, little Louise, to the sexy and sophisticated “Gypsy Rose Lee.” Tickets are $15 for students/children and $20 for adults. Premium seating tickets are $25 for students/children and $30 for adults. Sponsored by Bank of the Flint Hills and Edna Mae Peddicord Charitable Trust.
Dinner & Show? Join us on Opening Night, June 9, for a delicious dinner catered by Friendship House! Tickets are $12 for students/children and $17 for adults. The menu for the evening is gypsy chicken, rice, mixed vegetables, french bread, side salad, bread pudding with three choices of sauce & iced tea and water to drink!
Summer Theatre Academy 2017 - July 5-28
Performances - July 28-30
The area’s much anticipated favorite will return to The Columbian Theatre this July during Wamego’s Summer Theatre Academy (STA). Through this program, The Columbian’s mission is to serve as a resource for local children, ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade, with a desire and passion to learn about theatre art. STA teaches responsibility, confidence and teamwork, which are all traits that we, as an organization, hope will leave a lasting impression on these young actors and actresses. Sponsored by The Smoke Signal.
Registration is open on Monday, March 27th for "Family" Level Membership enrollments and Monday, April 3rd for non-membership enrollments. Registration can be done in person, by phone or online by visiting https://columbiantheatre.tix.com. STA is $110 per student and this fee allows us to hire reliable staff to work with your student.
